The Tropical Forest Foundation’s primary mission is to promote sustainable tropical forest management as the best way to preserve tropical forests’ renewable resources and natural habitats. Through on-site demonstration and training, research and advocacy the organization aims to affect behavioral change and encourage sustainable forest management among industries that utilize tropical wood products.
HistoryThe Tropical Forest Foundation (TFF), a US non-profit foundation, was formed in 1990 by leaders of industry, science, and conservation who shared a concern for the protection of tropical forests. The foundation was established to foster dialogue and alliances between industry and conservation organizations, improve tropical forest management and enhance the economic value of tropical forests.
LeadershipThe diverse leadership team of TFF is composed of representatives from the industry, the scientific, academic and conservation communities, and the world’s major supplying and consuming regions. Each member has a shared interest in the conservation of tropical forests through education and the creation of a sustainable timber industry.
PurposeThe Tropical Forest Foundation demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing environmental, economic, and social sustainability. In order to implement methods of tropical forest conservation and management, TFF promotes education and unique on the ground training.
